Edinburgh Military Tattoo – Edinburgh Castle Esplanade 4-26th August

Surprisingly nothing to do with the act of tattooing or art, a tattoo is used to describe the last military duty call of the day and is a form of evening entertainment performed by military musicians. The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an annual series of military tattoos performed by the British Armed Forces, Commonwealth and international military bands, and artistic performance teams. It was established to bring the Army’s contribution to the Edinburgh International Festival to life through a series of performances. The event takes place at the Tattoo Arena in Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, a very impressive venue in itself. The theme this year is ‘Stories’ and it’s expected to be the biggest and best event ever.
