Friday 29th December
Torchlight Procession
20,000 people come together for a very special cause on 29th December. We shine a light on homelessness helping to raise over £50,000 for Social Bite projects in Edinburgh and across Scotland. There is a new start location this year and the route goes from The Meadows to the City Centre. To join, you’ll pay £20.00 per Torch which includes £2.00 charity donation and fees. The rebooted event now has a feast of live Street Theatre, Fire Performers, Pipe Bands and Drummers to get celebrations started. The crowd creates a stunning river of fire through the capital’s historic Old Town.
Ho-Ho-Hogmanay
This unique comedy showcase promised a night of live stand-up comedy from the very best acts on the comedy circuit. Hosted by Emmanuel Sonubi and featuring Fred MacAulay, Larry Dean and Susie McCabe the show takes place in Assembly Rooms on 54 George Street and tickets cost £25.
Saturday 30th December
Catch a Movie
Start the celebration with a lunchtime movie event in St Andrew’s Square Spiegeltent. Described as an analogue film for the digital age and made entirely of Scottish film archive, “From Scotland With Love” is a 75-minute film by award-winning Director Virginia Heath. It’s a step back in time to explore our collective past. At 5 pm, the same venue are showing the formidable Trainspotting, a true masterpiece of Scottish film following the misadventures of Edinburgh outcasts. Tickets are £10.00 for each screening.
Night Afore Disco Party
Internationally acclaimed ABBA sensations Björn Again will headline the Night Afore Disco Party for the ultimate night out in Edinburgh. Beneath Edinburgh Castle, a set list of pop classics and disco hits will be the name of the game when Björn Again takes to the Princes Street Gardens stage. Single and family tickets are available to buy but be quick!
Sunday 31st December
If queueing and crowds are not up your street this New Years, make It an early night seeing in the New Year in the candlelit atmosphere of St Giles’ Cathedral as it celebrates its 900th anniversary in 2024. From 6.30pm – 8pm the venue will fill with the sounds of the first three cantatas from J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Bach at his most exuberant. Tickets are £22.50.
Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Street Party
Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Street Party is the main event and draws crowds from far and wide to celebrate.
Musical icons PULP will headline the 30th Anniversary Concert in the Gardens on Sunday 31 December, counting down the seconds until the New Year. Edinburgh’s Hogmanay marks the Sheffield band’s first live show in the capital for over 20 years, something we’re very excited about. The Tartan Zone on Waverley Bridge presents a night of fantastic music from across Scotland, headlined by the award-winning Elephant Sessions. The Disco Zone hosted by Silent Adventures will see 4,000 participants enjoy a giant outdoor Silent Disco with tunes from across the decades and is guaranteed to be great fun for all. To celebrate 30 years of the Street Party, you’ll see street theatre, drummers, pipers, vintage funfair rides, food and drink creating a carnival atmosphere throughout the city centre leading up to the bells.

First Footin’
New and popular last year, First Footin’ presented an afternoon of free live music and performance taking place in various city centre attractions, pubs and venues across both Old and New Town areas.
