Shinfield Studio, located at Thames Valley Science Park in Reading is a powerhouse of film and production in England. The 18-stage studios which are due to be fully open and operational in 2024 range from 17,500 – 43,000 sq. ft. including the UK’s largest fully soundproofed, heated, air-conditioned stage. We’re used to welcoming famous faces to Shinfield. In fact, the latest Star Wars The Acolyte and the new Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire film were partially shot here!
Winnersh Studios
Another excellent filming location less than 4.5 miles from our serviced apartment accommodation in Reading Centre is Winnersh Studios, which co-hosted the team from the new Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire film which premiered in cinemas this year. Owned and operated by Stage Fifty, Winnersh Studios offers an expansive creative area spanning 120,000 sq ft. This space accommodates 6 lively sound stages ideal for productions of all shapes and sizes. “The Boys in the Boat,” a sports drama film directed by George Clooney which premiered in 2023 marked Winnersh Studios’ debut booking in the film industry. Farnborough International Studios
Another Studio Fifty run filming space, Farnborough International Studios, is a leading film location within the Southeast. The studio offers state-of-the-art filming facilities for creative industries with more than 20,000 sqm of unbranded interior space and 100,000 sqm of external space. They have hosted everything from Hollywood productions to small-budget advertising space. The studio might seem familiar having been used for big-budget movies including Jurassic World, Mission Impossible and Hobbs & Shaw. Pinewood Studios
Less than 40 minutes from our serviced apartments in Reading is Pinewood Studios, the home of the legendary 007 stage. The Albert R. Broccoli 007 Stage at Pinewood was originally built in 1976 for the Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me. Noted in the credits of some of the big and small screens’ most well-known productions over its 85-year history, Pinewood has an impressive 30 stages of different shapes and sizes. As well as traditional sound and production spaces, you’ll find a unique permanently filled underwater stage and 3 TV studios. Recent productions crediting Pinewood are A Haunting in Venice, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Secret Invasion and Disney classic The Little Mermaid.
