Antwerp is a very cool city. Helped by the diversity and creativity of our residents, the city is buzzing every day and there is always something interesting going on. There are places in Antwerp that people gravitate to, like the hottest new restaurant in town or a local park on a sunny day all of our friends have been raving about. No matter why you’re travelling to Antwerp, there is something to entertain you. The best hotspots are carefully hidden down laneways or are sitting in front of us and we can’t see them. Book your stay in PREMIER SUITES PLUS Antwerp and enjoy the hotspots of Antwerp from a comfortable, spacious serviced apartment accommodation in the heart of the action.
To Take Pictures
If you’re looking for that perfect spot to take some trendy pictures, look no further than Vlaeykensgang. This charming medieval lane just west of Oude Koornmarkt dates back to the 1590s and just barely survived redevelopment plans to make it a car park in the 1960s! In the heart of the city, behind a tiny unsuspecting doorway, you’ll find one of the best hidden gems of Antwerp. Its maze of little passageways and courtyards dating back to the 16th century, filled with ivy-clad walls and beautiful brickwork. It’s one of the best photo spots in the city to get that perfect Instagram shot, to show off an outfit or for a family snap. Nearby, Restaurant ‘t Hofke is a beautiful spot for dinner
To Relax
There are many ways to relax in Antwerp, whether that means a trip to a spa or enjoying a coffee in a local café while reading a book. One of our favourite ways to relax is to enjoy nature. There are multiple parks in Antwerp, many with something unusual to offer like the Botanic Gardens or Antwerp Zoo. One of the most beautiful parks in the whole city is Te Boelaerpark. It’s about 40-minutes walk from our serviced apartments in Antwerp and is a beautiful place to hang out. There are beautiful trees and walking paths, plenty of benches, and a kids playground so visitors of all ages will be entertained. It’s busy on summer days so be prepared to arrive early to get a spot in the sun.
For Coffee
There are so many coffee hotspots in Antwerp, you can barely count them! There are more new coffee shops and cafes than any other type of retail! Caffénation has been the place to get your daily fix in the city since it opened its doors in 2003. They are speciality coffee roasters with a particular passion for traceability, seasonality and flavour. They also serve delicious fresh pastries and snacks to pair with your coffee. Grab your morning fix here and stroll back to your home from home through Stadspark. Expect queues and a short wait, but it’s well worth it for this liquid gold. If you can’t wait you can also order coffee online to ship anywhere in the world.
To Sample Local Beers
There are a couple of local delicacies that we are known for in Antwerp, stoofvlees, frites, and waffles to name a few. However, none has travelled further than our delicious Belgian beer. Often, Antwerp’s hidden gems and hotspots are in the most obvious of places, and Elfde Gebod is a good example. Sitting in the shadow of Antwerp’s Cathedral the bar’s name is literally translated as the ’11th Commandment’. Inside you can marvel at the pulpits, church murals, sculptures, angels and more. All of this while sampling some of Belgium’s most famous drink, beer! There is always a crowd so get there early to get a seat and sample the range of beers on offer.
To Eat
Treat yourself to a meal you won’t forget in one of Antwerp’s most extravagant restaurants Kommilfoo. This Michelin-starred hotspot has an extensive price range with meals from around €45-120. It is located in the heart of old Antwerp and a visit is truly an unforgettable culinary experience. The restaurant was founded by Olivier De Vinck, who grew up in Antwerp and knows so much about local food and ingredients. Booking is essential if you want to guarantee a table as it’s almost always busy.
