Are you planning a trip to Bristol and wondering what to do here? Maybe you’ve been before and need some new suggestions? We’ve put together this must-see list of things to do and see in Bristol to make sure you see the best of what this great city has to offer.
A Taste of Local History
Not only is the Brunel’s SS Great Britain the highest rated activity in Bristol, it has been described as one of the finest visitor attractions in the whole of the UK! The SS Great Britain really is one of the ships that changed the world and a visit here is like taking a step back in time to 1843 when it was first launched. The museum is dedicated to the history of the ship, its ventures and the captain, crew and passengers of the legendary liner. It is a truly fascinating and educational day out.
Back to Nature
Our closest neighbour and one of the city’s finest green spaces, Castle Park is 650 acres in size and contains many activities and things to do. The park is bordered by Bristol’s Shopping Quarter on one side and the fabulous Floating Harbour on the other. Inside the park, there is a children’s play area, many displays of outdoor art and sculptures as well as the ruins of St. Peters Church.
Where to Eat
One of the greatest things about Bristol, besides our colourful history, is the huge array of restaurants available on every street. A real crowd pleaser among these has to be the exciting Stable Pizza just 15-minutes walk from our front door. These guys really know pizza and they only use fresh and (where possible) locally produced ingredients. They also have a huge selection of ciders on offer and showcase these with delicious tasting platters. All of this is complemented by the buzzing evening atmosphere in this rustic old barn.
Walking Tour
Did you know that one of the worlds most famous pirates, the fearsome Blackbeard, was born in Bristol? Or that world-famous graffiti and street artist Banksy started his 30-year (and counting) artistic career on our streets? You can learn so much about the history and heritage of our beautiful town with an informative walking tour. These are usually hosted by locals with an in-depth knowledge of the city so you can get the real local experience. They vary from pirate tours to Bristol’s ghostly buildings so there is something for everyone to enjoy here.
