All The Best Christmas Events in Bristol Happening in 2019

We are so excited for the Christmas season to start here in PREMIER SUITES serviced apartments Bristol. The city comes alive with thousands of sparkling lights, excited shoppers and so many Christmas themed events. Christmas in Bristol is a special time and with so much to see and do, there is something for everyone. If you’re looking for a perfect place to stay this festive season, our serviced apartments in Bristol are right in the middle of the action. Here are some of the fantastic events near Cabot Circus this year:

Christmas Lights:

It wouldn’t be Christmas without the traditional ceremony lighting the Christmas lights in Cabot Circus. This year on 8th November the square will light up like a carnival and the lights will signify the official start of the Christmas season in Bristol. It’s a fantastic event for friends, families, and couples to spend an evening enjoying the Christmas spirit, warming up with a hot drink and enjoying some Christmas Carols. There are also lights in Broadmead, The Galleries shopping centre, St Nicholas Market, Corn Street, College Green, and Park Street.

Harbourside Christmas Market:

There is something very special about Christmas Markets. It could be the gorgeous Christmas lights & decorations or the smell of mulled wine in the air but we think it’s the exciting atmosphere created by local Bristolians and tourists alike. There are multiple markets in the city but Harbourside is one of the best, hosting over 50 stalls of unique gift ideas and plenty of food stalls to refuel along the way. The covered walkway will be filled with everything from handcrafted leather wallets and collectible books to artisan chocolates and authentic local art.

St Nicholas Markets:

From Mid-November to 31st December we are excited to welcome back the city’s oldest indoor market, St Nicholas Markets, with a Christmas theme. The market has been running since 1743 and is the largest market collection of independent retailers in Bristol. The market is open every day from 17th November and is extended to the outdoor area from 11th December. Here you’ll find some unique gifts for yourself and your friends at reasonable prices. St Nicks is also in one of the most beautiful parts of the city with gorgeous historic architecture to enjoy while you shop.

Christmas Theatre:

Christmas wouldn’t be the same without a visit to the theatre for a Panto or a classic seasonal performance. This year Bristol’s Old Vic have two excellent shows for you; Boing! a west end dance-theatre performance and a modern adaptation of the classic A Christmas Carol. The Redgrave Theatre are showing ‘The Snow Queen’ and ‘Dear Santa’ and this year’s panto in Bristol Hippodrome is Dick Wittington starring Shane Ritchie.

Visit Santa in Cheddar Gorge & Caves:

It may be a 45 min drive to Cheddar Gorge & Caves but once your little ones see the excellent set-up they have to visit Santa it will all be worth it. The elves have been busy setting up a special workshop to make sure there are gifts for all of the children who visit Santa and are happy to sing songs and tell festive tales while you wait. It’s an excellent and very unique place to visit the man in red, much more memorable than the usual shopping centre visit!
