Beatrixpark – 1.5km. 20-minute walk
The closest park to PREMIER SUITES PLUS Amsterdam is Beatrixpark. Walk just 20 minutes to find a picturesque, pretty park with a great assortment of natural flora and fauna, many of which are marked for ease of identification. It’s particularly lively in the summer months with an ice cream parlour and plenty of local children enjoying the bright weather. The rest of the year it’s a quiet hidden gem, great for an evening stroll or to meet friends. While there, you can visit the romantic “Doctor’s Garden” filled with medicinal herbs and wild vegetables.
Amstelpark 2.1km, 6-minute drive
Easily one of the more picturesque parks in the city, Amstelpark was originally built to host the world garden fair in 1972. There are lots of activities and attractions contained within like the mini-golf course, a brass Rembrandt statue and the Rieker windmill, which dates back to 1636. Spend some time in the gorgeous botanical gardens, which includes a rhododendron valley and a rose garden. It’s a great place to stop if you don’t have long to explore but want to see some typically Dutch sights. While there, enjoy the garden terrace of the stylish Rosarium restaurant and enjoy some Dutch snacks and drinks.
Vondelpark – 3km, 9-minute drive
Vondelpark is one of Amsterdam’s largest and most impressive parks. Located in the heart of the city, close to all of the major tourist attractions, the park is popular with both visitors and locals. First opened in 1865, the park is filled with gorgeous trees, picturesque lakes, and a stunning rose garden. It’s large enough to meet friends or to find a quiet corner to enjoy a coffee and a peaceful read. There are lots of cafes and bars in the surrounding area and within the ground to pick up a drink or some lunch. You’ll often find free open-air concerts in the summer months and ice skating in winter.
Amsterdamse Bos – 4km, 10-minute drive
The Amsterdamse Bos is the largest forest park in Amsterdam and a great way to get back to nature on your trip. Full of wild forest trails, bike paths and waterways, you can enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities here like hiking, swimming, horseback riding and much more. You can explore the lake by pedalboat or try your hand at canoeing in the park’s canal, Bosbaan. There is a petting zoo and goat farm contained within the park, a favourite with younger visitors. There are often open-air art exhibitions that you might see in the warmer months.
Westerpark – 6km, 15-minute drive
Located on the opposite side of the city, part of the Westergasfabriek complex, it’s worth the trip to Westerpark. This trendy area perfectly blends gorgeous green space, iconic architecture, and a lively and creative social scene. The area contains indie and boutique shops, markets, an arthouse cinema and an all-star line-up of music and food festivals during the year. It’s a great place for a pre-nightclub gathering or to spend a summer evening with friends.
