Autumn Internationals
We’re excited to welcome back the Autumn Internationals to the home of rugby in Ireland, the Aviva Stadium, a short walk from our accommodation in Dublin. The 2022 end-of-year rugby union tests take place from Sunday, November 6th to Saturday, November 26th 2022 and bring the finest Irish and international sporting talent to Dublin. Ireland kicks off their autumn campaign against the world champion South African Springboks on Saturday 5th November, followed by a match against Fiji a week later. Ireland’s three-test autumn series concludes with a match against the Wallabies on Saturday 19th November. It’s a true test of skill, training and talent playing against these formidable sides and we wish our boys in green the very best of luck.
Dublin Theatre Festival
The Dublin Theatre Festival is back with a bang in 2022 with a fantastic schedule in venues across the city. Founded in 1957, it’s Europe’s oldest theatre-only festival and a great way to experience the finest Irish production, writing and acting talent. Participating theatres include the Gaiety Theatre, Civic Theatre, Abbey Theatre, Draiocht, Gate Theatre and Pavilion Theatre. There are shows to suit all ages and across a slew of topics so there is something for everyone. Bram Stoker Festival
Did you know Vampires came from Dublin? Well, not exactly but one of the world’s most famous blood-thirsty characters came from the mind of a Dubliner. Bram Stoker lived in the Clontarf/Fairview area of Dublin and wrote his most famous book, Dracula from his lodgings. We’re excited to welcome back the much-loved Bram Stoker Festival in Autumn 2022. This festival focuses on the life and times of the author, his work and life in Dublin back in those days. It also celebrates all things Gothic, supernatural, and Victorian. Expect discussions, exhibitions, theatre and performances, costumes and much more over the October bank holiday.
Ghost Bus Tour
Autumn for many means just one thing – Halloween! Did you know that Halloween has its very roots right here in Ireland? The festival has evolved from an old Celtic festival of Samhain, a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season. The Ghost Bus is back in autumn after a 2-year hiatus and promises to be bigger and better than ever. This two-hour bus ride will take you around some of the most haunted parts of the city, stopping to disembark at points of interest like graveyards, spooky churches, crypts and sites of some of the strangest supernatural events. The tour is hosted by a trained actor and driver who are ready to creep you out or scare you at every turn. It’s a fun activity for families, groups or a great first date idea.
Enjoy Dublin Pubs
Autumn also brings changeable weather, and you might find yourself here during a rain shower. Never fear, it never rains in the pub! While in Dublin, it would be a shame not to enjoy a pint and some traditional entertainment in the heart of Dublin’s Temple Bar but make sure it’s not the only pub you visit. Head to The Gravediggers in Glasnevin for a delicious pint of Guinness and a bowl of their famous Coddle (Dublin Stew). Pop into The Brazen Head, Dublin’s Oldest Pub established in 1198. If you’re feeling adventurous, take a trip up the Dublin Mountains to Johnny Foxes, Ireland’s highest pub, where they have a show and traditional Irish music nightly. The pubs in Dublin all have something unique to offer, you’re sure to find one that suits you.
