It’s the most wonderful time of the year once again and you know what that means? Lots of carols, cold weather and our favourite, Christmas shopping! If you are yet to start, or just need to get the last few bits, Dublin is the perfect place to get it all done. Dublin is well-known as a shopping mecca for fans of fashion, food and all things festive. Here’s where you need to visit to get it over as quickly and painlessly as possible;
Dundrum Town Centre
A little closer to ‘home’ this time, you only have to travel 10 minutes from PREMIER SUITES Sandyford to reach Dundrum shopping centre. With a massive 170+ shops and stores, you will find something for absolutely everyone. They have a great mixture of high-street and high-end stores so whether your budget is big or small, you’ll manage. They are hosting a variety of Christmas themed events which are great for keeping the little ones occupied while you get on with it. They also have a great selection of food outlets so you can refuel mid-shop and go for longer!
Grafton St
One of Dublin’s most prestigious thoroughfares, Grafton Street is located on the South side of Dublin City Centre. The street is home to many high-end favourites ranging from bespoke candles and beauty products to designer clothing and accessories in the world-famous Brown Thomas store. The street is beautifully illuminated over the Christmas season and is filled with the sounds of Christmas carols coming from the talented buskers from all over the world.
Stephens Green Shopping Centre
At the top (or bottom, depending which way you’re coming from!) of Grafton Street lies Stephens Green Shopping Centre. It is packed to the brim with shops and stalls containing everything you need to make this Christmas extra special. Try TK Maxx for a designer bargain, stop in Dunnes Stores for the makings of a fantastic Christmas Dinner or search for a really unique gift in one of the more unusual stores like Asha or Retro Nation. The centre is spectacularly decorated during the festive season so if you’re not in the mood going in, you definitely will be coming out!
Henry St
Henry Street is the number one destination for shopping on Dublin’s Northside. If you’re looking for a bargain, an outfit for your Christmas party or to pick up some Santa presents, this side of the city is great. There are two large shopping centres – Jervis and Ilac which are full of all of the high-street favourites. The world’s first – and best – Primark store opened on Henry street in 1969 and remains the go-to place for affordable fashion. While you’re on Henry Street, make sure to have a look into Arnott’s fabulous festive window display
