The Big Wheel and Ice Skate Birmingham return to Centenary Square from Thursday 3rd November to Sunday 8th January. Ice skating is a great place for all of the family to make cherished and often hilarious memories. The Big Wheel also returns and is a fantastic opportunity to see Birmingham from a unique viewpoint. Christmas in Cathedral Square is back in 2022 and better than ever. The market will take place on the grounds of Birmingham Cathedral between Wednesday 16 November and Sunday 18 December 2022, offering guests a variety of crafts, gifts and food and drink stalls. There is an official launch on 16th November from 6-8pm where visitors can enjoy a free evening of entertainment including the Christmas tree lights switch-on. Over the course of the event, visitors to Christmas in Cathedral Square can expect music from local performers, a penguin trail and traditional crafts for the little ones and purchase some very unique gifts from a selection of independent Midland businesses. It’s a real treat and a great way to get into the festive spirit.
Panto in Birmingham
Nothing says Christmas like the screams of ‘He’s behind you!’ from a group of excited children. This year Birmingham has a selection of Pantos to choose from, each with something unique to offer. Birmingham Hippodrome is showing the UK’s largest regional panto, Dick Whittington, Featuring sets and costumes from The London Palladium. Scottish singer Marti Pellow returns as The Ratman in the 2022 retelling, alongside plenty of other familiar faces in a must-see show that opens on December 17th. There are plenty of local theatres and shows to choose from in the area too like Elf The Musical in The Core Theatre Solihull or The Bear in Midlands Arts Centre (MAC).
