Public Transport in Newcastle
We’re encouraging guests to make more sustainable transport options, travel without cars and use public transport as much as possible. Luckily, Newcastle has a fantastic public transport system allowing you to explore the city with ease. Our bus service, including Quaylink Bus (or Qbus as its locally known), has created new links to Gateshead Quayside, Newcastle and across Newcastle City Centre. The Metro System is reliable and gets you where you want to be as quickly as possible. You can use the transport system to see all of the sights that are a little too far to walk to like the Metro Centre, Beamish, Hadrian’s Wall, the coast, and the iconic Angel of the North to name a few. Our team are happy to help you plan a journey by public transport if you’d like to take out the guesswork.
Transport to and from Newcastle Airport
Travelling to and from Newcastle airport is easy by public transport. Our central Newcastle accommodation means we are close to many bus and metro services as well as a dedicated airport bus line. With a Metro station located at Newcastle International Airport, travelling by Metro couldn’t be easier. The journey to Newcastle city centre takes around 25 minutes and the closest stop to our serviced apartments in Newcastle is Central Station, less than four minutes’ walk. There are trains every 12 minutes from approximately 6am to 11pm. You can buy tickets at the stop using cash or credit card card. A single journey costs around £4.30 and it’s only £5.70 for a full day ticket.
Taxis in Newcastle
While travelling by car is a less sustainable way to get around, we understand sometimes public transport just doesn’t suit your schedule or mobility. Taxis are easy to pick up in Newcastle and you can simply hail one on the street. If you like to be a bit more prepared or pay via card, you can use the Free Now app available in most UK cities. One of our team will be happy to organise a taxi for you with a local firm also. Travelling by taxi can be expensive depending on the destination and time of day so plan your journey carefully. If you’re going to the airport, you may be able to negotiate a return fare before you get in.
