From our Thomas House location in the heart of the city, we’re within walking distance from most major attractions. A great way to get to know a new place quickly is to visit the past. Many of Bristol’s museums and galleries are a short stroll from our serviced apartments and are free to enter. Enjoy a visit to the impressive Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, a treasure house of Egyptian mummies, art, dinosaurs, and nature in a beautiful setting. M Shed is one of our most colourful museums showing exciting exhibits detailing the history of the city & its people from a 1950s dockside transit shed 10 minutes walk from our suites. Whether you’re exploring the inside or admiring the outside Brunel’s SS Great Britain is a beautiful spot to walk to. Clifton Suspension BridgeÂ
Enjoy a stroll through the city, through some of our beautiful and colourful local neighbourhoods and head toward the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Arguably the most iconic backdrop in Bristol, our beautiful bridge was erected in 1864 and has been a constant on the Bristol skyline since then, attracting visitors from all over the world. Climb to the observatory and take some beautiful pictures before crossing the bridge to the visitor centre where you will learn more about its design and construction. If the weather is fine, pack or pick up a picnic to enjoy in Brandon Hill Nature Park on your way back to the city centre.
Ashton Court Estate
If the weather is fine, get out of the city and explore one of the most beautiful historic houses, soaking up culture, beauty and the great outdoors. Ashton Court Estate is located in Long Ashton, a 15-minute ride on the x4 Excel Bus or a 15-minute cycle from our accommodation in Bristol. While you’re there, you can enjoy rambling around the 850-acre parkland and mansion, checking out how the other half lived. There are two Pitch & Putt Courses, a deer park, a miniature railway and plenty of orienteering and nature trails. Ashton Court is one of the few places you can take off in a hot air balloon, a very unique activity that you’ll remember forever. Pack a picnic and enjoy lunch al fresco – just remember to leave no trace!
