After a long summer of restrictions and staying indoors, we are really looking forward to an outdoor summer in Amsterdam. There is no place quite like Amsterdam when the sun shines. Everyone is in a better mood and you can enjoy our sights and sounds at a leisurely pace. One of the highlights of an Amsterdam summer are the many beautiful terraces dotted around the city and ideal for those much-needed catch ups with friends and family. Book your stay in PREMIER SUITES Amsterdam today to avoid disappointment this summer.
Vondelpark Cafes – 3km, 12 minutes by bikeÂ
Arguably the biggest terrace in the entire city, Vondelpark has some fantastic cafes, restaurant and bars inside, making it an ideal place to spend a sunny summer afternoon. Right in the centre of the park lies ‘t Blauwe Theehuis an eye-catching multi-storey pavilion with a modern design that is beautiful both day and night. The large area seats 700 people between the ground floor garden and the panoramic upstairs terrace. Run by Brouwerij’t IJ Brewery, you’re guaranteed a great selection of local beers, wines and soft drinks; perfect to soak up the afternoon sun.
De Tulp – 4km, 15 minutes by bikeÂ
If you love a garden bar, De Tulp is a perfect all-day adventure. The spacious terrace, complete with its very own swings, is ideal for a family outing during the day & as soon as the sun starts to set the mood changes to a casual party atmosphere. They have a great selection of drinks and their food menu caters to all diets and budgets. The tropical themed garden bar stretches across Marie Heinekenplein in the centre of De Pijp, ideal to refuel after a long day of exploring. You’ll often find live music, Latin-themed parties and open-mic nights taking you into the warm summer nights in style.
Royal Theatre Carre – 7km, 20 minutes by bikeÂ
Kill two birds with one stone when you visit the beautiful waterside terrace at the stunning Royal Theatre Carre in Amsterdam. This historic venue dedicated to the performing arts is one of the best kept secrets in the Plantage neighbourhood so you’ll almost always get a walk-in table. The open-air terrace is open throughout the summer and is an ideal place to enjoy the sunset or catch up before or after a show. They have a small city beach complete with deck chairs so you really feel like you’re on vacation. As well as their usual food and drink offering, they often feature popup menus from notorious Amsterdam restaurants.
De Vergulden Eenhoorn – 6km, 22mins by bikeÂ
A far cry from the usual bustling inner-city vibe, De Vergulden Eenhoorn was once a city farm and is now a lovely, laid back café. Despite its central location near Amstel Station, once you sit down and relax, you really could be anywhere. The garden has deckchairs, a fireplace for cooler evenings and a playing area for jeu de boules. Their country-style menu focuses on great local ingredients prepared with talent and care. Make sure to try their delicious lemonades and leave space for a homemade dessert.
Pllek – 10km, 45 minutes by tram
It’s not the closest terrace to PREMIER SUITES Amsterdam but no list of the best terraces in Amsterdam would be complete without a mention of Pllek in Amsterdam Noorde. Catch the free ferry heading from behind Amsterdam Central and enjoy a short stroll along the waterfront to Pllek, the cities biggest al fresco watering hole. Not so much a terrace as an entire beach, Pllek is where trendy locals gather when the sun is low and the wind is warm. Constructed mainly from old shipping containers and offering fantastic alternative views over the river, it’s a popular spot for young and old and the eclectic menu has something for everyone. It’s an ideal spot to experience the city from a different viewpoint.
