Everyone knows the Christmas festivities don’t finish after the turkey is carved on the 25th, they carry on until New Year’s day (and often even longer!). Whether you are commiserating what could have been a better year or celebrating the best year of your life, Glasgow has something for everyone! Panto
We are lucky to have a selection of the finest pantos in the land here in Glasgow (oh, no you’re not! Oh yes we are!) Pantos are the best way to bring families, friends and colleagues together for a night of fun and frolics complete with all of the usual suspects. This year visit the Pavilion Theatre is showing their all singing all dancing rendition of the fairy-tale Cinderella, complemented by the hilarious Dame, Graddina.
Street Party
Back for another year of fun, Ashton Lane Street Party is back! Jinty McGinty’s turns the entire street into a festival style street party complete with live music & pipers to ceilidhs & street performers, there is something to impress everyone. Everyone is encouraged to wear something tartan to celebrate our proud Scottish heritage and there will be a fireworks display at midnight. There are outdoor bars and BBQs too, in case you need to refuel. You need to buy tickets in advance and the event is only suitable for over 18’s.
Pubs & Clubs
Each of Glasgow’s unique pubs and clubs has their own unique way of celebrating the biggest night out of the year. Many have dancers and drinks promotions to entice revellers until the early hours. A walk down the high street will give you an idea of the buzzing atmosphere in the city at this special time of the year. You can expect the drinks to be flowing, the attendees to be full of energy and excitement and the music will certainly be pumping through the night. Musical Celebration
If you want to ring in the New Year with a bit of class and refinement, you could consider a musical performance in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Sauchiehall Street. There is a glorious evening of live music taking place to help you ring in the New Year in true Glaswegian style. There is a stunning line-up with music performed by the truly talented musicians in the Scottish Concert Orchestra. They will be performing some all-time favourites like Auld Lang Syne, Highland Cathedral and Scotland the Brave.
