Magic Weekend –4thSeptember 2021

Dacia Magic Weekend will return to Newcastle in 2021! We are delighted to welcome back this family fun weekend of rugby and much more on Saturday 4th – Sunday 5th September 2021. The tournament, which was postponed in May 2020 due to Coronavirus, has been rescheduled and will take place in the one and only St James’s Park. We’re promised a weekend of sporting fun with an opening show from local rugby league wonders Newcastle Thunder.

Dacia Magic Weekend is an exclusive chance to see all of Betfred Super Leagues biggest derby matches over one weekend in one venue with six, back-to-back fixtures taking place across two days. It’s a must do for rugby fans, young and old and a great chance to take in more than just the game. The Fan Zone will have fantastic entertainment, player interviews, official merchandise, and the best food vendors in the North East.

Those who already hold tickets from last year will see their tickets rolled over for the 2021 event. Fixtures for Magic Weekend 2021 in Newcastle include:

The Great North Run -12th September

If you prefer the solitude and perseverance of running rather than team sports, sign up for the Great North Run on 12th September. 57,000 determined runners, walkers and joggers come together to make the Great North Run the world’s biggest half marathon raising millions in much-needed funds for good causes in the meantime.

This year the route will be a little different to facilitate social distancing and to ensure the safety of all competitors. In a change to the usual iconic route, the runners will now start in Newcastle and cross the Tyne Bridge twice, running through the city centre and finishing on the Great North Road.

Instead of the usual shotgun start, runners will be allocated specific time slots with runners starting the race hours apart in some cases. This is to ensure social distance and to ensure that transport and roads are not too busy either before or after the event. Visitors, travellers, and spectators should expect delays and avoid driving in and around the city on18th September if possible.

The finishers village will be located on the Town Moor, an ideal place to refresh, refuel and meet finishers to congratulate them for a job well done.
