The coffee revolution has well and truly hit Dublin in the last few years. It used to be that the only way to drink coffee was strong, black and from a jar but in the last 5 years there are more coffee shops than post offices in the city! Forget the big chain brands like Starbucks and Insomnia, we prefer a local shop where the staff get to know your ‘usual’ and make it exactly how you like it. Here are our favourite coffee shops on this side of the city.
Bewleys Café
A literal institution on Dublin’s Southside, a trip to Bewley’s is more of an experience than your usual stop for your caffeine hit. It may not be a stand-alone shop, but the coffee is consistent and the décor alone is worth visiting for.
Bear Market
Bear Market is just 5 minutes’ walk from our front door, making it the perfect stop for your fix before work or a day of exploring the city. Their special artisan blend of coffee and simple but stylish décor makes it stand out among the crowd.
3fe
Founded by an ex-world champion barista with impeccable training and a great knowledge of his trade, 3fe have a huge selection of coffees which change with the season. If you’re that passionate about coffee you can even take one of their brew courses to learn how to brew your own.
Peacock & Green
Our closest coffee neighbour, Peacock and Green on Leeson Street have a great selection of teas and coffees to complement their delicious food. Each cup Is made with love by their friendly staff who always recognise a regular.
Coffee Angel
Not exactly a chain café but there are a few stores to choose from in very convenient locations and their very best, Pembroke Street is less than 5 minutes from us. Their coffee is delicious and the friendly baristas are always on hand with advice if you can’t make up your mind.
Fallon & Byrne
F&B are another institute on the Irish Restaurant scene and you can either sit in and enjoy or take away a cup of what they claim is ’Dublin’s best coffee’. They are better famed for their food for good reason, so it would be a pity not to sit in and enjoy lunch followed by a cup of delicious coffee.
Brother Hubbard South
They describe their coffee as ‘warm, welcome & interesting’ and when paired with one of their delicious brownies, you’ll be as hooked as we are! You may even be lucky enough to have your coffee made by Head Barista Bruno, who has placed 2nd in Irish and Brazilian Barista championships.
So there you have it, a round-up of the best coffee spots on this side of the city. Our friendly reception staff will always be happy to offer advice or recommend their favourite coffee spot if we have missed it!
