1. Number 1 on Trip Advisor – Revolución de Cuba
One way to tell the best pub in any city is to listen to recommendations. The number one pub on Trip Advisor for Reading is the very unique Revolución de Cuba. This authentic Cuban bar is one of many in a chain across the UK and offers Latin-inspired food, tapas, cocktails and nightlife. Here you can enjoy a lively night out with plenty of music and dancing. They often have drinks specials like 2 for 1 cocktails to enjoy in the Havana Cocktail bar or rooftop terrace. They have an extensive rum list, an excellent food menu and their staff are so friendly and accommodating. It’s not hard to see why they’re number 1!
2. Trendy Food & Drinks – Bill’s Reading
Housed in an elegant Georgian building, Bill’s Reading is one of the prettiest and charming restaurants and bars in central Reading. A popular bar and restaurant, Bill’s serves amazing food all day – breakfast, lunch & dinner. They also have an impressive cocktail menu and serve well into the evening. For non-drinkers, their ‘virgin’ drinks menu is much more than a standard juice and with a paper umbrella. The interior of this branch of Bill’s is trendy and kitsch, mirrored in the friendly atmosphere created by the staff and clientele. Enjoy a drink and a bite in Bills, less than 5-minutes’ walk from our business apartments in Reading.
3. Traditional British Bar – The Lyndhurst
There’s nothing quite like an authentic British Pub. Somewhere to enjoy a real ale, a chat with a local and if you’re lucky some home-cooked food. The Lyndhurst, a short 10-minute walk from our corporate accommodation in Reading has everything rolled into one. Newly refurbished and reopened, the Lyndhurst is a friendly, cosy place for you to enjoy a drink after work or to grab a bit of Sunday lunch without the washing up. They have a great selection of local craft beers & real ales on tap and an extensive spirit list. They are even recognised by CAMRA, the campaign for real ale. After a few pints, check out their excellent food menu, made from local produce and made fresh to order.
4. Live Music Venue – The Oakford Social Club
We love live music in Reading, so you’ll find bands, musicians and music makers of all descriptions popping up on our streets, in pubs and venues across the city. The first place to start is The Oakford Social Club on Blagrave Street. Since it opened 2006, the venue has put on hundreds of shows, with all manner of musicians taking to the stage. They host BBC Introducing, a weekly band night and they love to give up and coming artists a chance to perform beside seasoned veterans, letting everyone have an equal chance to impress. They have two beer gardens and plenty of seating both inside and outside so you can enjoy a few drinks with friends while enjoying the music.
5. Cocktail Bar – Milk Bar
When it comes to finding the best cocktail bars, Reading is full of movers and shakers. Whether you’re looking for a Martini – James Bond style, or something a little more millennial, Milk Bar has something for everyone. They always have great two for one deals, happy hour specials and the best rum collection in Reading… what’s not to love! When you enjoy a drink in Milk, you can also enjoy the brilliant atmosphere, great music and have a laugh with their friendly staff. They also have a very varied events calendar, hosting everything from live music to comedy.
