3. Dublin Castle

Dublin Castle has played a part in Ireland’s history since the 1930s when a fortress was built on the land by Vikings. Although parts of the castle have been destroyed and rebuilt through the ages, the oldest remaining structure, the Record Tower, dates back to the 13th century. Today, the castle spans over an area of 44,000 square meters (11 acres). It contains two wonderful history museums, two cafés, an international conference centre, two gardens, the government buildings and the state apartments which are the most important state rooms in the country. 4. Grafton Street

If you decide you’d like to spend a lovely day walking through the city and would like to get a feel of the local Dublin life, head to Grafton Street. This pedestrian street — which runs from Trinity college  past st. Stephen’s Green is also known for its atmosphere. 5. St. Patrick’s Cathedral

St. Patrick’s Cathedral is the largest cathedral in Dublin and the National Cathedral of the Church of Ireland. It is build on the site where St. Patrick is said to have baptized many people 600 years earlier. The cathedral was built between 1220 and 1259 and had major restorations in the 1860s. Today, as one of the most renowned churches in the world, it hosts approximately 500,000 visitors annually. When in Dublin City, make sure to come by and admire is vaulted ceilings and intricate details that make up its Gothic Design.
