UCI Track Cycling World Cup
Formerly known as the UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics, The UCI Track Cycling World Cup isa multi-race tournament held over a track cycling season. The series and divided into several rounds, each held in a different country. The inaugural round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics was held in Copenhagen, Denmark in May 1993 and since then the UK has played host 16 times and taken the gold twice. Hosted in Glasgow this April, this is a major event within the track cycling calendar, with only the World Championships and the Olympic Games taking higher positions. The series is open to national teams and registered trade teams who compete over a number of track cycling disciplines.
UCI Track Cycling and Mountain Bike Cup event in Glasgow 2022
The event in Glasgow will be the first elite-level international track cycling event to be held at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome since December 2019. Bringing together the very best international talent, the GB Cycling team are preparing for a tough competition and getting ready for a host of premier track cycling events, including the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, also taking place in Scotland.

Glasgow has thousands of dedicated cycling enthusiasts and fans, and we’re sure they’ll be thrilled at the prospect of once again seeing elite athletes competing in their home city –particularly in the months leading up to the 2022 Commonwealth Games, and the year before the city welcomes the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships!”

The indoor arena and velodrome in Dalmarnock, Glasgow–around 30 minutes by public transport from the city centre -was built to host the badminton and track cycling events for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and is the perfect location for the UCI Track Cycling World Cup. The world-class facilities at the arena are second to none with custom-built fitness studios and a 2,000-capacity velodrome with space for 2000 more temporary seats. The 250-metre cycle track, which is made of Siberian timber, will stage the world cup surrounded by adoring fans and some of the finest cycling athletes from around the world.
